I am trying to make a major impact on cancer support services to meet the patients needs as covered by the College of American Surgeons in the areas of  Cancer Survivorship, Counseling and Patient Navigation.

  • State Livestrong.Org rep for WV and will be Attending a Leaders Seminar in March 
  • I attended the OVAC(One Voice Against Cancer) conference last year to advocate with our state Congressman, Congresswoman, Senators and Governor not to cut cancer funding in the state of WV.
  •  I work with our state cancer coalition on the sub committees for cancer survivorship and chair for patient navigation services. I have helped bring in some of the top names to the state in oncology patient navigation, including the Founder of Patient Navigation Harold Freeman, who was gracious enough to give me a full ride to be trained in his patient navigation institute in Harlem, NY. I also brought in the Director of Patient Navigation Services for Livestrong.Org to WV for our second statewide patient navigation conference both of which said it could not be done.
  •  In March after the Livestrong Conference, I will be advocating for oncologists in WV at the Cancer Oncology Alliance Conference as a special guest. I was asked to come because of my unique perspective as a 2 time childhood cancer survivor and professional I know what kind of impact it has on small communities when they loose a local oncologist and how that effects treatment outcome and state of mind by traveling so much and the toll and costs it has on caregivers and survivors going through cancer.
